New Transfer and Post-baccalaureate students who are entering Western beginning Fall quarter have two options for completing an academic advising, orientation, and registration process.
Transfer students coming in Fall quarter are strongly encouraged to attend the Transitions program in July, which offers a full student and family orientation program. Students attending Transitions will receive academic advising support and register for their Fall quarter classes during the program. Historically, about 25-30% of students attending Transitions will bring one or more family members who attend family orientation. The Transitions program offers informative workshops related to core transition resources and services for students and family members, presentations focused on financial matters, campus and library tours, an info fair, and more!
Students who do not attend Transitions will be able to register for Fall classes when Phase II Registration begins August 28, 2018. Students may be able to schedule an appointment with the Academic Advising Center or Student Outreach Services for advising support after the program. Appointments are based on staff availability.
For students, there is no fee to participate in Transitions - the cost is covered by the one-time $280 enrollment fee. For parents/family members, there is a cost to participate in the Family Orientation program and the Family Orientation fees are outlined in our FAQ section, FAQ #4
