Freshmen Advising & Registration

If you are a Freshman who did not attend Summerstart, your advising and registration appointment is scheduled for Monday, September 24.  You must check-in between 8:00am – 9:30am at the Information Booth located on Red Square to receive your exact registration time and location, and important advising and registration materials.  If you have any advising questions, please contact the Academic Advising Center at 360.650.3850 or advising@wwu.edu.

In order to register for classes, you must be cleared for measles immunization prior to your registration appointment.  If you need to submit proof of measles immunity or have any questions, contact the Student Health Center at 360.650.3400.

You also must activate your Universal Account.  If you need assistance or have forgotten your username or password, contact Academic and Technology User Services Help Desk at 360.650.3333.


Math Placement Test

Most freshmen must take the Math Placement Test before taking their first math course at Western.  The test will be offered on Monday, September 24 at 8:30am and Tuesday, September 25 at 9:00am in Fraser Hall 4. The test will also be offered on Wednesday, September 26 and Friday, September 28 at 3:00pm at the Testing Center, 333 32nd Street – Administrative Services Building (AC) 120 (located near Sehome Village).  Please bring $30 cash or check only, a #2 pencil, and photo ID to the test.  For more information about the Math Placement Test, please contact the Academic Advising Center at 360.650.3850 or advising@wwu.edu.


Countdown to Western

Keep track of your status in several important areas including your measles clearance, housing information and more with your Countdown to Western Checklist. To login:  You will need your Western ID number (commonly referred to as your “W” number), or User ID, and date of birth. Your "W" number can be found on your admission and confirmation letters. Revisit your Countdown to Western checklist any time to verify your current status.

Items to Remember!

  • Valid photo ID
  • #2 pencil and $30 (cash or check only) for the Math Placement Test
  • Your Universal Account username and password
  • Your Transfer Equivalency Report and a copy of any college transcripts (if applicable)
  • A notepad and pen

Participate in a variety of informative, fun, and engaging activities to help you begin your Western experience.  You’ll meet other students, build connections with faculty and staff, and explore ways to become more involved in your new campus and community. While many Fall Orientation activities are geared toward first year freshmen and transfer students, most activities are open to any Western student.

IMPORTANT!

Freshmen who did not attend Summerstart will participate in academic advising and class registration on Monday, September 24. Information about advising and registration are mailed and emailed to students separately.  Additional sessions will be offered for transfer student advising, study skills, career planning, finance management, and more.

Fall Orientation kicks off on Saturday, September 22 with the Out-of-State Student Dinner and features a series of workshops, information fairs and social events. As we confirm events, we’ll continue to update the “Schedule” section of the Fall Orientation website, so check back often!
