- Law School and Public Policy Info Fair. VU MPR. 10am. This event gives students who are interested in law school the opportunity to meet and interact with law school recruiters as well as pick up information about multiple schools and the application processes for each one.
- CHSS Dean's Lecture Series - Americans' ambivalence toward work and leisure. Bellingham City Hall Chambers. 7pm Many Americans, it would appear, seem conflicted about work and leisure. Charles Sylvester, a professor in the Physical Education, Health and Recreation Department at Western Washington University, is curious about why. He'll discuss the topic of work and leisure - including a few ways Americans might harmonize the two.

5:15pmWestern Washington University's Sebastian Mendes will present" the first installment this academic year in WWU's Turning Points faculty lecture series. Mendes' presentation will focus the actions of his grandfather, Portuguese diplomat Aristides de Sousa Mendes, who in June, 1940, was in the unique position to aid thousands of desperate Jewish refugees pouring into Bordeaux, France, with German troops poised to capture the city at any time. - ASP Films presents Tropic Thunder. This event features two films made by local Native youth. Canoe Pulling: A Lummi Way of Life (10 minutes) and March Point (1 hour) address the revival of canoe pulling for the Lummi Nation and how the Swinomish Tribe is being affected by the oil refineries at March Point. A panel discussion will follow the films with the founders of Longhouse Media and four Native youth who worked on the films. This event is co-sponsored by the Social Issues Resource Center, Native American Student Union and Environmental Center.

- Toys for Tots Benefit Dance. VU MPR. 8:30pm-12am. $5Refreshments and a DJ will be provided for students and friends. All proceeds will be donated to the Marine Toys for Tots foundation. Bring an unopened toy for donation and recieve $2 off the ticket price.
- 2009 Yule Ball. VU MPR. 7pm. Western's Harry Potter club is hosting its third annual Yule Ball. There will be live music from local Wizard Rock Bands, food, dancing, a costume contest, tarot by Trelawney and lots more Harry Potter fun. There is no dresscode, but costumes are encouraged.

- Two Small Pieces of Glass. HH 313. 6:30 pm. The International Year of Astronomy!2009 marks the 400th anniversary of the first astronomical observations of the sky with a telescope.
