Make a Difference Day
Make a Difference Day is the most encompassing national day of helping others. Created by USA WEEKEND Magazine, Make a Difference Day is an annual event that takes place on the fourth Saturday of every October.
Over the years millions have participated across the country in service to the community. In 2006, 3 million people cared enough about their communities to volunteer on that day, accomplishing thousands of projects in hundreds of towns.
The Whatcom Volunteer Center spearheads the efforts in the Bellingham area to support and get people involved with Make a Difference Day. This year, as in previous years, the University Residences and New Student Services/Family Outreach have partnered with the Whatcom Volunteer Center to ensure the University’s commitment to service-learning continues to grow.
